About the craft: The technique of dabu handblock printing hails from the states of Rajasthan and MP where the skilled artisans use indigo dye and mud to create motifs on the fabric. The mud paste is applied on the fabric using wooden blocks and then the fabric is dyed in an indigo bath to get its base colour. There are multiple rounds of dying, printing & drying in the sun making the process very labour intensive. Yes of course the final product is a treat to the eyes!
